Chen Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Human Genetic & Genomic Research 2013 awarded to Dr. Yoshihide Hayashizaki

Dr. Yoshihide Hayashizaki, the director of the RIKEN Omics Science Center, has been selected for the Chen Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Human Genetic & Genomic Research 2013 by Human Genome Organisation (HUGO) for his longstanding contribution to transcriptomics research. Especially, he was praised for his achievements in the development of full-length cDNA technology and human genomics and human genetics in the Asia-Pacific region through FANTOM, a large-scale international project.

This award celebrates the achievement of biomedical scientists who have performed extraordinary work which has changed the thinking in the field where important technology was developed; and/or who have uncovered new insights which brought forth new therapies; and/or whose lifetime contribution have significantly impacted the Asia-Pacific region.

The award presentation ceremony will be held at the Human Genome Meeting 2013 in Singapore on April 18, 2013.
